Dong, Whiskey and Alan conducted a dive at The Dump just north of Port Stanvac Jetty.
Conditions for the dive where excellent seas were smooth like a lake and we were diving on the low tide. There was still a slight green tinge to the water; however the visibility was at least 10 meters and the water temperature was 22c. It was good to see that there is a marked improvement in the condition of the site. The surrounding area has almost returned to how it was before the Algae Bloom with the plant life abundant and appears to be very healthy. Life on the structures is returning and there are positive signs of regrowth on all the structures with fish numbers increasing throughout the site.
During the dive the number of Old Wives had greatly increased although not at the numbers seen before the bloom. There were all the usual fish including scalyfin, Moonlighters, Magpie Perch and a small school of Yellow Fin Pike.
Overall, this was a positive and enjoyable dive.
