NSW Diving Road Trip

Just returned from a road trip to NSW with the Sea wolves Dive Club. We spent four days diving in Jervis Bay with Grey Nurse Sharks at Bowen Island and seals at a site called the Drum and Drumsticks. Unfortunately the weather was not in our favour and we had two days of somewhat stormy conditions on the water which limited the sites we could dive.

On the fifth day we drove from Jervis bay to South West Rocks to dive Fish rock Cave.

We spent two days diving the cave and surrounds. Swimming through the cave was excellent you entered at a depth of about 25 meters along the passage through the cave there was plenty of crays and other small critters which you could photograph. (Look but don’t touch) and at the top exit point there was a myriad of differing schools of fish. Also there was a strong current and you literally had to hold onto the rock face and climb over into the neighbouring bay to return to the boat. This made the dive interesting and a bit of a challenge.

The last point off call was at Wooli on the NSW North Coast where we spent the day diving North Solitary Island. The first dive was in a sheltered bay. This dive we were able to explore the surrounds with almost no current and visibility over 20 meters. Our second dive was a drift dive but we were dropped on a school of Leopard Sharks which forced us to swim against the current to get photos of the sharks and observe them. Then when air was starting to get low we enjoyed the ride back in the current to the bay and waiting boat. I was away for 12 days with an amazing fun group of divers from the Club.
