Dive report from Second Valley Monday, low viz – approx. 3 meters and a milky slightly green tint to water. Lots of surge and even the Weedy Sea dragons were hiding in the seagrass. Quite a contrast to the sensational conditions we had over the weekend. Water samples have been collected and dropped to the amazing volunteers from Phytoplankton of South Australia – Recovery group for analyzing.
Thursday, I had a good dive at Second Valley with Dong. Conditions where good water temp was 22c and Visibility was at least 10 meters. However, there was a white haze through the water column in the vicinity of the head land also there was a lot of green weed that was drifting and also sitting on the established growth. The weed could be lifted off and under it were small fish and the established vegetation.
During the dive we came across two Weedy Sea dragon’s a crab that was in hiding a very small Blue Devil and several interesting creatures although the fish numbers were down, there was a good spread of species to be seen.
